30th November 1997. Oasis. Support from Travis. NIA. Birmingham.£17.50.

One of the customers in the record shop I was working in queued all night to get tickets. when he offered me a ticket at face value it seemed like a good idea. Wrong!

Travis were growing in popularity and played a decent set to a disinterested Oasis fanbase. Oasis were now huge. However this was the “Be Here Now” Oasis and the edge had totally vanished. Already a Rolling Stones – go through the motions stadium act – what happened – eh!

The worst element was very visible. More football hooligan elements than music. Oasis had mutated for the worse. looking back they really should have quit after the 2nd album and left a legacy.

I shouldn’t totally slate them as they have some great songs, but, y’know…

Travis 7 out of 10.

Oasis 7 out of 10.
