In late Summer 1982 the U.K. Singles Chart was just packed full of great pop songs. From smash hits like Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor and Dexy’s Midnight Runners Come On Eileen to more throwaway pop fun garbage like Hi Fidelity by The Kids From Fame.
Peaking at Number 8 in September 1982 was a one hit wonder that in a way summed up the early 80’s singles chart. A forerunner to girl power maybe? Daft as a brush and taking new wave into pure pop lunacy Toto Coelo stayed in the charts for quite a lengthy period with I Eat Cannibals.
The song is just enjoyable. It’s hard to say why – it just works in a lunatic pop way. They don’t make ’em like this anymore… do they?
