Tenpole Tudor – Swords Of A Thousand Men

In 1981, Tenploe Tudor released what was effectively their 5th single Swords Of A Thousand Men (if you include the Great Rock N’ Roll Swindle material). The single was a big hit and peaked at Number 6 in the U.K. (when the charts were actually difficult to climb). It was a playground smash and my classmates and I loved the record.

Swords Of A Thousand Men was ballsy, daft, fun and catchy. It fits the bridge between Punk, Pop and what would become PsychoBilly like no other song. I’m surprsied the song does not have higher nostalgic kudos and listening to it just now for the first time in literally decades it still sounds as fresh and barmy as it did 32 years ago…
