As a 6-year-old music was just background noise. If anything it was irritating. Of course – I was wrong.
A very select few songs got through to my 6-year-old ears. Time froze and what came out of either my Grandmothers Radiogram or my Mums Hi-Fi just turned into momentary magic – nothing more, nothing less.
Those few songs were : Ralph McTell – The Streets Of London, The Beatles – A Day In The Life, Lynyrd Skynyrd – Freebird and Hotel California by The Eagles.
I went on to dismiss The Eagles when I got into music largely because of something Sid Vicious said. There’s no mistaking that there is real magic in this song. Damn, I shouldn’t admit that..
