Dead Kennedys – Halloween

In December, 1982 the Dead Kennedys released what would be their last every 7″ single Halloween (also released on the 12″ format and included on the bands Classic 2nd album Plastic Surgery Disasters). The song is a scathing attack on conformity, peer pressure and the American Dream. It is a faultless song, accurate and very relevant today – I guess it always will be. Hardcore sounds spewed over with venomous vocals the kind of which only Jello Biafra can deliver this well. So good that I can’t really review it – just give it a listen. Of note is that the B-Side Saturday Night Holocaust is almost just as essential. In times of increasing social pressure a reminder just how much this band are missed and how fantastically unique they were…
